Perhaps this is explained already and i missed it. Maybe it's easy and i'm having a brain fart. How or is there a way to have the open door from the home set be on a wall so you can see through it?

You have to cheat:

Position the open door and place two backdrops each side of it to give the appearance of a continuous wall. This was how I did the effect in "An Introduction to Brian Priest"

There are also 2 other ways that it has been done:-

1. Create the backdrops texture to have a transparent section and place the open door just behind the transparent area, this has the benifit of creating a seamless texture on both sides and above the door.

2. Use some fancy post processing effects similiar to what the User Matt did in his video "Thanks, Muvizu.com"

Hope this helps,
Jamie.

@ jamie

Oh thats perfect thx exactly what i was looking for. Using a .PNG just create a wall texture and place a transparent area for the door."Flawless victory"

Thank you everyone else for your suggestions. I'm sure jamie's suggestion will help many...

Only one question what did you use for the door opening.

Did you screen shot the door then just animate it post render AE for example?

Edit... Oh i see it's not your vid...srry

Civicbynature - Matt's done a tutorial vid, you can see it here:

Opening doors was something that we had loads of requests for.

There should be some animations to go with this in the next release (fingers crossed!)

Cheers

How do you create the transparent part on the wall or "texture"? Thanks in advance!

Create your image for the wall, then cut out the bit you want to be transparent - you have to use something like Gimp or Photoshop to create images with transparent backgrounds, rather than blank backgrounds (which are just white, usually). Then you export your image as a GIF file, to preserve the transparency (jpgs and the like will convert the transparent bits to a colour). Now, go enjoy Christmas and leave Muvizu alone for a bit!
