Hi Muvizu users

It's Paul Collimore here from Digimania HQ. I have corresponded with several of you via email regarding the future developments of Muvizu and would like to take this opportunity to share with all users some more information about the projects Digimania has been working on.

Since December 2013 all the team have been hard at work developing a new 3D animation rendering software. RenderDigimania has been designed for animation studios who produce large volume content, such as kids animated TV series. RenderDigimania uses a "game-engine" production pipeline which dramatically reduces rendering times, and therefore reduces production budgets.

The early access version of RenderDigimania was released in August at the North American Siggraph event. Since Siggraph we have received a large amount support from the professional animation industry and several large animation studios have provided us with valuable feedback. This feedback has mapped out our development timetable.

How is this relevant to Muvizu?

Although we have been around for some time, Digimania is a small start up business with a limited amount of resources. Since December all of our resources have been focussed towards the development and marketing of RenderDigimania. For Muvizu we set in place new streamlined systems designed to maintain the levels of new registrations, which allowed us to shift these resources over to RenderDm.

For those Muvizu users that are forum/gallery users, this has perhaps given the sense that Muvizu was an abandoned product. In reality the Muvizu user base has continued to expand organically and we are approaching a key milestone of hitting a user base of 100,000.

For the past year we have been collecting key demographic data via our registration process to provide us with the information needed to determine how best to allocate future resources into Muvizu. This data has been studied and we are internally mapping out plans for the future of Muvizu.

I will keep you updated and expect to be in a position to provide you with more information on a monthly basis.

Thank you for your continued support.

Paul

Finally, some proper feedback!
Hopefully the next bit of news will be good.

Thanks,
MDW13

PS: RenderDigimania is looking good from the tiny scraps of info that make their way to the forum.

I dont care what you call it but i have been on the renderdigiwhatsits list and fully intend to try this new product. I just hope you have a price for small one man band operations otherwise my money goes to iclone 6 and daz again this year :/

I had resolved myself to using iclone 6 only in the future as the lighting etc will be improved. I just hope the renderdigiwhatsits price tag can compete with it because i want the renderdigiwhatsits with that clean adult interface

I suspect a 100,000 user-base, is really just 100,000 downloads. So I hope they aren't basing any business plans on that figure.

Dear Primaveranz

Thank you for your concern. I can assure you that the 100,000 user-base are actual people and not just the download numbers. Download numbers at present are sitting at around 350,000.

Good, because that is a huge number of active users of any niche software. So I look forward to the forthcoming developments with great interest.

As a very satisfied Muvizu user for the past two years, I can only wish Digimania the best of luck and a whopping commercial success with RenderDM.

What a crawler lol!

Having now watched the Renderdm videos and sifted through their support files, it does seem that the future for Muvizu may have a more interesting development to watch than we had previously thought If some of the renderdm features are allowed to tumble downhill and be absorbed into Muvizu.
There seems to be a fair gap between the two products. I wonder if that will be filled with software tool which would compliment both? Namely a character rigging and import tool, a character actions creation tool and possibly a iclone-esc marketplace for users to upload created assets(textures, objects characters, character actions etc) from which revenue could be created for both Digimania and Muvizu content creators alike?

Hmm... Interesting

Yeah, "Thank you for your concern" is always a give away.
Mind you if I had 100,000 users I'd be walking the walk not just patronising the talk

Sorry, patronising the talk will continue for a little bit until we start walking the walk.

Will keep you updated.

Especially since only 2%, or less, of those actually use the software. (My unscientific estimate).

Cheers Bigwally

We have been tracking the app runs against new users etc. It's hard to determine the percentage as it depends on how you classify an active user. Is it someone who uses the software every day, every week, every month? Some users will download the software have a play with it and never return. Others will use Muvizu for a project, have a couple of months using the software everyday and then disappear.

Without getting into commercially sensitive data, I can share that on average a Muvizu user will use Muvizu 15 times in the space of a year.

So why aren't these users more active on the forums? My guess is that it's because 68% of users come from non English speaking countries.

I would be more active, but I can only go so far voicing characters myself. In my current project, I voiced five different characters and tried to have different sounding voices for each (changing the pitch with Audacity helped), but it's not easy. I could do more if I had voice actors, but I'm unsure about contacting any (amateurs with audition reels on youtube for instance) because I don't know whether they would expect to be paid, and since I have no money to pay anyone with...yeah.

This new software seems interesting.
I googled "render digimania" and found the official website. I'll probably try the free trial soon, but I didn't find what happens after the 30 days.
What about the price(s) ? Can we have an estimation ?

You might try the "Voice Acting Alliance" forum.
They do a lot of fan dubs and may have some actors willing to work for credit.
