Hope you are all having a good holiday time. Just playing with some audio for a new project in Muvizu, but can't get rid of background noise,(narator too close to mike, I think. I used NCH Mix Pad and have tried to edit in NCH Wave Pad, but can't get rid of the breathing noise. What do others use for cleaning audio?

Audacity, the free audio editing program, would be a good choice for solving your problem. You can download it here:

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

The basic idea behind cleaning background noise is to sample the noise and then remove only the frequency that the noise occupies from your recording. Lots of ways to do this. Here's one method from the Audacity wiki on noise removal:

Good luck!

I second Audacity - I use it's noise removal function with almost every video I make as it is simple to use and pretty effective. (Although if you turn it up too much you end up sounding like a robot )

I've also found that pointing the mic at your throat, rather than your mouth, improves the overall sound and avoids the hard "puh" sound that you'll sometimes get. And I use Goldwave to clean up my audio - does a nice job of pop/click removal as well as noise reduction.
