Export MZU potato head as fbx? CloudNinja wrote:
We often speak about importing fbx characters or objects from other 3D software into Muvizu (MZU) *but* is there a way to reverse and instead import the MZU characters (where are they stored and in what format?) into another 3D software like Maya or Blender?

Make sense?

thank you,

well.. yes, sort of...

He identifies a free program that enables you to extract characters to a format that can be opened in Blender then saved as other formats. In order to use them as characters that can move in other software, you'd have to know how to rig static models. Lots of programs offer that capability... Blender, Poser and probably Maya (I don't have Maya so I can't say for sure)

Having said all that... using characters in this way probably violates the user agreement, which restricts users from reverse engineering the program and its assets

Experiments in 3D Animation and Storytelling as soon as I see the name RODRISILVA attached to a post, I know whatever is in the post is going to amaze me. VERY cool, Rod! Thanks for keeping us informed about the results of your experiments!

How would a person go about the task of finding animated normal maps?

Another newbie...Another first... I don't think there is a lava lamp... but there needs to be. Maybe I'll upload one. ;-)

My First Muvizu Video Very clever! I like the word play!

Another newbie...Another first... what??? No lava lamp in the recording studio?? I thought that was mandatory ! ;-)

Nice job, Jammer... welcome to the forum, where a lot of us are also musicians with mini recording studios!

The lag is probably not from the tweaks you made for the sake of your DAW... most of those affect background processes interrupting media flow, and they should help the flow of video too. The biggest consideration with video is the presence of a good gamer-style video card...

I went the route of a separate PC for music and video so I could tweak them both for their specific use...

Sounds like you have a plan! I look forward to hearing more from you!

DK Animated Movie series I can't speak for anybody else, but I think that when a company foots the bill for a website to promote their product, using their resources to showcase a competing product is not cool.

To me it's the equivalent of one of my wife's married friends leaving her marriage for a free lifestyle, then coming back to my house to show my wife an album full of pictures showing how much more exciting the swinger life is than the married life. Both scenarios tend to undermine the audience's satisfaction with their current situation.

I support everybody's right to choose the platform that works for them, and to move on if they aren't happy using whatever they started with, but I've never respected the practice of coming back to say how much greener the grass is somewhere else.

My 2 cents. Other peoples' mileage may vary.

getting into "the zone" for creativity... I'm curious to know how others access the phenomenon variously called
"The Zone"
"Putting on the animator's hat"
"getting the muse to talk to you"
"inspiration"
"letting the creative juices flow"

etc etc.

We all wear a variety of hats in a days time: employee, student, spouse, parent, craftsman, etc etc, and most of us find it difficult to transitionj from one role to another. The story of finding time to play at your creative hobby, only to sit in front of your computer without any clue of what to do next is all too common. But sometimes it works.

so my question for you: what is the common denominator among the times when it works? What helps you to unleash your ideas, and get past the bogged down state?

actions that last only seconds in the preview mode may last longer when you apply them on the timeline.

Set won't open if you send the set that won't open to support, sometimes they can determine what went wrong.

background nbtoon wrote:
can i upload a video and use it as background in muvizu??

If you're asking whether real video can be used as background in Muvizu, the answer is yes. Certain AVIs can be applied as texture to backdrops, and to the skydome, both of which can be used as a scene's background.

The problem is that not all AVIs will work, and I don't have any good suggestions on how to find AVIs that work. I've had good luck with output from Anime Studio, others have had good luck with output from other programs. It needs to be uncompressed.

What many of us do is apply the video background in our video editor, and just export the characters from Muvuizu

I'm still evaluating Muvizu to see if it's suitable for novel-size storytelling. So far it's doing well.

Yes, it is capable of novel-sized storytelling! In fact, there are at least two projects that will come to fruition in 2017 that have been in process for years. Stay tuned.

A feature length film is basically a collection of many scenes held together by a script. Muvizu is very good at capturing scenes. The creator needs to be good at managing the script.

Looks like you're off to a great start! I look forward to seeing more from you!

Experiments in 3D Animation and Storytelling Looks like you're having fun, Roroduck! I want to see the rest of the story about the guy in NY prison... you've caught my interest regarding what he has to say that will affect so many people.

Am I correct in thinking that the RO in RORODUCK is short for "Rob?" (ROB! Look for birds!)

Question about Asian & South Asian character packs Robert mentioned that the UV maps were added later, so anybody who bought the Asian pack as soon as it was released should re-download and reinstall in order to get them. And good point Ritsmer... on principle I think I'll re-download everything to see if other file size changes exist!

Question about Asian & South Asian character packs The Asian and South Asian UV Maps are definitely different.

update: Robert in support recommended re-downloading the Asian pack and reinstalling (I had already reinstalled to no avail)

I'm happy to report that after re-downloading the pack and reinstalling it, I have all of the UVMaps

Do you have the Asian pack installed under content packs? I just activated it in my latest version of muvizu and I can see the templates.

I do have it installed... and it must be activated, because I can load the characters and change their outfits.. I just can't find their UVMaps. I have to wonder if installing the South Asian set replaced their UVs... because on my system, the south Asian set shows up where the Asian set shows up in your screen shot.

I've submitted a query to support, maybe Jamie can sort it out.

If you edit the texture and the screen comes up where you pick or import the texture there is a folder called UV Templates. There you can also find the Asian templates. Select one and click the Edit button.

I just discovered an interesting anomaly about this menu:

if you click on the WORDS "UV TEMPLATES", you get the choices shown above....
but if you click on the little triangle to the LEFT of the words, you get the missing South Asian character templates!

so, apparently all of the characters DO have templates if you know where to find them. Now I can sleep at night. ;-)

but wait... I don't have the ASIAN templates, as shown in the picture above! That's weird... anybody know why that might be?

Question about Asian & South Asian character packs this thread has been enlightening for me... I never realized that the potato heads don't all have the same options. For example the woman potato head (but NOT fat woman or girl) has costume options, which include the slacks that have already been discussed, as well as a long dress.

interesting.
