I noticed a very significant performance drop with the new version, as well. This machine isn't too powerful CPU-wise (it's an older Core 2 Duo running at 1.8 GHz) with 4 GB of memory, but the video card is relatively decent, with a AMD 5700 GPU (pretty sure it's DirectX 11 capable). In previous versions of Muvizu, moving around in any of the included sets was really smooth. With the new version, moving through a scene is visibly jerky. I guess the new engine is more powerful in some respects, but it's not obvious where.

alakyr wrote:

it's only a my impression or muvizu become more heavy? I remember the release before the new interface and it was very light and it was running perfectly on my office pc...now it very very very heavy and slowly...every movement of the camera it's a suicide in particoular in "direct camera movement" mode...it's only a my problem or the fault if of the new interface or anythings else?
edited by alakyr on 06/12/2011

Hi,

It seems a little strange that you're having issues like this with your computers spec. Whilst Muvizu has started to become a little more resource hungry you shouldn't be having the issue that you are. Could you tell me the sort of difference that you're finding between this version and the previous one? How many frames a second do you think you've lost going from the previous release and the current one?

What version of the application and windows are you running? (either 64 bit or 32 bit)

Thank you

Have you tried running an anti-virus and a defrag? I'm assuming you have your graphics card drivers updated.

Soon enough, we will be releasing a new version and it would be great if you could try it and check for improvements.

Despite noticing by typo I hope you understand what I was trying to say. The engine upgrade has an impact on performance, but it shouldn't be such an impact that would make it very hard to run Muvizu.
You should check your pc, because at the moment I'm using a pc that has lower specs than your and I have no problem on running Muvizu with other several applications opened.

Cheers,
Marco

Hi alakyr,

Muvizu has been going through some changes.

We recently upgraded the engine and the UI. This obviously have an impact on performance on older/low spec machines.

Although we work everyday on optimising our software, there is so much we can do.

I just wanted to let you know what changed lately.
The engine upgrade is like the oxygen. You can't see it, but you know it's there.

More information is available on the download page. If you still have any questions please let us know.

Cheers,
Marco
edited by Marco_D on 06/12/2011

Hi alakyr, Remember, Muvizu is a game engine, and like all advanced games it can
Be hardware intensive, but don't be put off, just try and keep your sets simple,
keep turning the lights off when animating, or even try a Game Booster to shut down background activity on your pc, and lastly try and keep your scenes short and edit it into more complex bigger scenes in your editing software.

Muvizu is an ambitious project, and will continue to be more pc
intensive, just like all Top software, its on the move.
I agree the timeline is a bit jittery and slow on this version, but HQ are working on it, rest assured.
Enjoy the ride......

Artpen
edited by artpen on 06/12/2011
edited by artpen on 06/12/2011
