You know, I'm becoming more and more convinced that a recent Windows update screwed everyone's codecs to some degree (mine included, as it happens). Wether the default ones work or you have to install the K-lite ones, just go with whatever Muvizu and your editors are happy to work with. It's a black art, all this codec stuff! Good to know your life has become less stressful

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE!!!: - ...I'm sittin here goin OMG b/c now FINALLY I am actually able to get video onto Backdrops! that NEVER happened before and I think I must've had corrupt codecs installed or something b/c I just recently under the advice of marco, and ziggy uninstalled all my codecs but I did not reinstall (yet), and viola! It looks weird and scribbly in the production preview process but when I rendered a test video it comes out GOOD! Maybe it's because I made a Religious Toon and God MUST've liked it? I dunno, but things are now starting to finally work here for ME as far as Videos on backdrops and I am still sitting here goin OMG!!! Here I thought it was me doing something wrong but Noo it was an issue with Bad CODECS...That's gonna be my mantra from now on...Codecs Bad!...EEF and Muvizu Good!...Codecs Bad!...EEF and Muvizu Good!...OMG!

It's ANY video I ever try, tonight I tried to download a vid off the internet and save it as a non-hd file thinking hd was the issue (i read that in an old thread) but even that didn't work. So, my guess is, it's not the version of muvizu I have that's the issue b/c even older versions didn't work, it's not the hd thing b/c you just said that shouldn't matter, I keep getting a nessage saying it's not the correct format, but it's AVI! and if it's an mpg I convert it to AVI - I even tried the windows sample video from the videos folder.
Here's another question possibly related to this...I read a thread in the muvizu site about transparent videos - how you had to go in and change the INI file within muvizu...I Never did that - was I supposed to do that in order to be able to import video?

Jamie wrote:

Send your AVI video into bugs@muvizu.com and we'll take a look.

Thanks Jamie, I have had this issue even w/earlier versions of muvizu, and I have a 64 bit machine, and used 64 bit codecs on earlier versions, and i think i have 64 bit codecs now too ....not entirely sure though. I think I am 64 bit all the way now, I KNOW I was before like, 6 months ago etc, (back then I had downloaded codec paks like k-lite etc) but then I deleted them or something and had trouble recently trying to download codec paks that were decent...so I scrapped that idea too...and now I have the latest muvizu I am running...but the problem has always been the same. I was so frustrated before with it I said screw it I give up, but now I am the point where I'd like to do some things with it for sure, but still, no luck!
edited by EEFilmz on 03/10/2012

EFF the HD or not should not matter, although HD videos will make Muvizu run a lot slower. The problem could be the bit version of Muvizu you are using. If you are using 64bit Muvizu you need 64bit codecs and 32bit codecs for 32bit Muvizu. Let me know if this works...

I always get the same error message noo matter what .avi file i try to put on a backdrop or in muvizu period. Obviously it can be done, I just do NOT know what the problem is...is it b/c the video is HD or not or?

https://twitter.com/EEFilmz/status/253388004658409473/photo/1
edited by EEFilmz on 03/10/2012
