well... except for the top hat and vest, the gentlemen are composed of stock Muvizu items that everybody already has. The only value I added was to dress 'em up and stand 'em beside the ladies.

But I see your point. I might include them later in a set of American Civil War era characters I'm already working on. I just wanted to post these now for the sake of those with works in process. When I do, I'll probably make my own top hat because of the implications of posting one that somebody else made. Maybe a stovepipe hat like Abe Lincoln wore...

(Are you unable to DL the sets from dropbox?)

He also looks like the guy in the old silent movies who'd be voted "most likely to to tie up a damsel and put her on the railroad tracks in front of an oncoming locomotive"

The ladies in bonnets should be concerned. ;-)

These are great, Pat! Thank you so much for sharing them. I can not believe it is December 8 already and I have 0 created for the Dec. 18 deadline. I will see if I can get my Christmas idea done sometime before the 25th, but my work schedule and get up in the morning schedule are very limiting for Muvizu creating time, as you saw in my sample disaster film in this topic.

Here's a link to an updated version which now includes 4 civil war characters along with the other 4 previously uploaded characters. I uploaded it to the store, but Jamie informed me that it won't open. I've made a few changes and now it has opened here successfully several times. Before I resubmit it to the store, will somebody DL this and see if it opens OK?

https://www.dropbox.com/s/2oyi55li2istptu/CIVILWAR_Characters.set?dl=0 <--bad link, file deleted

--------------------
new link:
(LINK DELETED, SET UPDATED, REPACKAGED AND IN STORE)

if it opens, here are some things to look for:
1) the buttons on the generals jackets should be textured like brass buttons, not just solid colors
2) the emblem on General Grant's hat should be a photo texture
3) the buttons on the infantrymen's caps should be textured to look like brass buttons
4) the brooch on the ladies should be a photo texture
4) skirt textures and accessory colors should match this photo
5) the texture on the rifle should look like the photo

please let me know if anything is not like the photo, or if the set fails to open at all, or if attachments (hats, skirts, guns, buttons, brooch, bow tie, stars on General Lee's left collar, shoulder emblems on General Grant) are missing or mis-textured

Thanks William!

Ziggy just informed me that the set uses the lab coat from the chemistry add-on pack... so anybody who doesn't have that should not waste their time downloading it, because it won't open for you. Or, you could buy the Chemistry pack, THEN download the Civil war set ;-)

Pat, they are brilliant. I'll be purchasing the chemistry set asap in order to access your set. I've spent many months struggling with trying to create Victorian-looking characters. Wish I'd just asked!

thanks 35litretheatre! If you just need the women, the 4 pc set in the link above has the same characters without needing the chemistry pack. It's the general's coat that requires it, so if the 4 military characters aren't needed then you can use the other characters right now!

Just remember that all of these characters have stiff attachments that won't bend with the body, so they'll require workarounds and special framing to get anything useful out of them.

I just discovered a problem with the set at the link above, so I'll be deleting that set and posting a new link to what will hopefully be the "fixed" set. As soon as you see a new link below this, it's ready.

(LINK DELETED, SET REVISED AND PUT IN STORE)

It opened 3 times in a row with no weird texture anomalies, but no promises it will be OK for you.. (that's why its free)

This will be part 2 of the CIVIL WAR ASSET SERIES
(both sets should be in the store on Monday)

It contains just what you see in the photo:
  • Each of the 3 soldiers has a different rank, as evidenced by the stripes on their sleeves.
  • Rifle is repositioned for shooting instead of carrying
  • uniforms now include a custom belt and holster without the Indiana Jone whip, with military belt buckle
  • one character holds two colt revolvers circa 1860
  • the cannon is a composite based on many photos of cannons from that period
