License You need to contact support about the licence to request an extension: http://www.muvizu.com/Support
This is due to the system that stops people using Muvizu on a suite of computers.

You shouldn't expect instant responses, 24-hour support, or one-day patches from Muvizu. It's just £25 and it's supported by a very small team of programmers.

Video Very Dark This sounds like a bug we've had before. If you render the video, does the file look normal or dark?
Either way, you should probably tell support so they can find the cause of the bug. http://www.muvizu.com/Support

If you didn't know guys, tech support is out sourced these days, it can be a guy in India or Bangladesh you are talking to and all they do is give you standard pre written answers. If muvizu is looking at making it big in this industry, they need to talk to us because we make them who they are.

I understand your point, but I'd like to point out that Muvizu isn't a very big corporation. It's just a small company in Glasgow. Also the support team aren't outsourced as far as I know (Jamie's been around since I joined the forum in 2011 I think.).
However I would like to hear what they have to say about this.

ASE conversion in newer versions of Sketchup PatMarrNC wrote:
A recurring theme on the forum is training new users to find and use Sketchup 8 in order to use the ASE conversion plugin. This will never end, since new users will tend to DL the latest version of Sketchup.

The good news is that it is TOTALLY POSSIBLE to use the ASE converter in the latest version of Sketchup! (but the procedure for making it work has changed, hence the problem when applying the old installation procedure to the new version)

I've already created a WIKI entry on the subject, so rather than retyping everything, here is a link to the WIKI:

https://www.muvizu.com/Wiki/wiki/170/installing-plugins-to-newer-versions-of-sketchup

There are advantages to using the latest version. They improve it all the time, and by using older versions you miss out on all the latest greatest new stuff. Nobody wants that. ;-)

Maybe the best news is that the latest version has a built-in link to their Extensions Warehouse, and automates the installation of most of them! Its as simple as finding an extension you like, and clicking INSTALL!

It also has a direct link to their huge warehouse of free models, and easily allows you to load models from there directly into Sketchup. Cool beans!

Interesting. I've always stuck to the old version because I liked the Ziggymesh exporter. I wonder if you can get this exporter working in the new version. As for features, it seems that the new sketchup hasn't really improved at all from sketchup 8 (Although feel free to prove me wrong if you find some).
Sketchup 8 used to have the warehouse built in.

I'll have a little read of that wiki page and try it out.

I am also interested, can you explain how to do that and where to attach it to?

Note: You will need Muvizu:Play+ for this.
It would probably be best to try out a basic cylinder shape exported from sketchup (Some tips here: http://www.muvizu.com/forum/topic5405-tips--tricks.aspx#post28539 ). Mandy doesn't have many attachment points, so you'd probably have to use the chest point and move the skirt down. Once you get the cylinder in the right position, you can start playing around with the shape of it until it fits your needs. You might have to keep playing with the shape and position until it looks convincing.
Good luck!

Changing back to the 1.6 version ? ritsmer wrote:
This is going to be A Never Ending Story...

Just to be extra sure I uninstalled the 1.6 version and then installed Ziggys (Thank you!) Sept. 22 1.5 version.

Result: "The license key you have provided is not valid."

Make sure you've selected the whole code by going to your profile then "my products". Then do Ctrl+a when you click inside the box, then Ctrl+c. If that doesn't work, send in a support ticket: http://www.muvizu.com/Support
I have 8 Muvizu versions on my PC just in case

Mute audio and Mouth movements To undo something, just do Ctrl+z.
The volume slider shouldn't remove the track, just lower the volume.

How to change from the 1.6 version to the 1.5 version ?

Do I have to uninstall Muvizu 1.6 - or can I simply install 1.5 -

I do know that my 1.6 projects can not be opened in 1.5 - but have decided to redo my current work in 1.5 as 1.6 seems to consume way to much time for "unexpected" issues :- ))

You can install multiple versions of Muvizu if you specify a different folder during installation. I think Ziggy has the October release which is the most recent fully stable one.

Mute audio and Mouth movements If you cant find volume controls in Muvizu, try rendering with only your voice. Then mute this in a video editor and add the real track.
I'm not at my PC so I can't check if there are volume controls.

New version 2016.01.15 available.

This version has the same issue. I have spent countless hours doing and re doing a simple scene over and over only to have it fail to load. I have resorted to taking a screen shot of every scene as I finish it in order to continue which reqiures duplicating the entire set and picking up where I left off.
In addition I have also resorted to creating place markers on my sets for my characters so I can position them where they were so I have no jump from scene to scene. This is the single most irritating thing I have dealt with in my entire time in Video production. To not be able to re use a scene is not gonna work for me. I may move on to another software that doesn't require me to build a new set every time I have to use the program.

Since the problems seems to be with head movements; save your set before doing head movements, then save another version with head movements and render this.(The second one won't recover)
If you do this, you shouldn't have to re-build sets, just re-add head movements.

Easier said than done - in some cases, at least: I'm working with an animated 4-person rock band - and of course they do look at each other, at the public, at their instruments etc. so this gives a lot of head movements - and as it mostly must be in time with the beat of the music there comes a lot of rearrangements too.

Just these movements are several hours of filigree work that can not just be re-added :- )

I know it's tedious, but I think it's a bit more convenient than having to rebuild a set from scratch.

If I'm understanding you correctly, you would be able to create a long skirt that could be used on a Mandy character, but the skirt would be "solid" like the skirts on the Woman (potato head) character....correct?
thanks,

Yep, that sounds right.
Just to be clear, I'm not volunteering to make this: my modelling skills are sub-par.

I've spoken to Jamie (from Muvizu support), and here are the responses:

1. The default is now set to "show selected" but you can change it to show all with the little dropdown at the top of the timeline.
2. This actually happens when I load the set in the previous version, so it must just be a dodgy set or something.
3. Ongoing problem- looking for cause.

Mandy Character and a Mic ritsmer wrote:
Probably a silly question - but: how difficult would it be to take/copy hair, clothes etc etc from one existing character and add it to another. ?

At first I would only think of copying the clothes and other seemingly "easy" things like some of the effects etc. ?

Of course the movements, actions and instruments options is quite another and more difficult/impossible issue - but copying like "Mandy's" hair options to "The girl" and the other way round might not be so difficult - but still add more possibilities for the users ??

The items are locked to the characters I'm afraid. You'll have to import your own hair models or whatever from sketchup if you don't like what's already there.

so, is the head movement thing resolved?

I ask because I'm not experiencing the problem with opening sets that were saved in the previous release... so if the head movement bug is resolved, I'm A-OK with the current version

A few users are reporting that everything's fixed, but I haven't had a chance to re-test the set I had problems with since updating my drivers and restarting the machine.
Install the new version in a separate folder, and if you find a bug with it, just use a previous version. If you have a very important set, you might want to stick with your current version for a few days for any bugs to surface.

Sketchup by itself doesn't have any export options that work in Muvizu. However, there is a plugin for Sketchup that allows exporting to ASE format (which Muvizu can use)

Apparently this bug should be solved if I update my drivers (which haven't been touched in 2 years, oops). I think this version's just a patch for the head movement bug.
I don't have the October release, but I do have:
September: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-_4UVPr59ACVV9EZWZCMzdQSlk
early November: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-_4UVPr59ACWnNNYWtYRDNDWFE
And the previous release that was buggy: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-_4UVPr59ACZWVRQUExekdjVkk
However, you should install the latest version in a separate folder to test it since it, in theory, has all the bugs covered.
