I greatly appreciate the fact that your judges all offered feedback... I think offering expert advice in the context of a contest is a great way to transfer knowledge to any newbies (like me) in the crowd. Such sharing is good for the forum, good for the product and certainly good for the recipients of the information! Great idea and very well handled all around! Thanks to MrDrWho13 for running such a clever and well managed contest!

And thanks to all the judges for taking time out of your lives to help others learn! I appreciate that, and I'm sure everyone else does too!

The reason I enjoyed it was due to the disclaimer that there was not much to criticize other than the check in desks. I am not on the level of the judges, but I love the colors. It is a cartoon, and not reality. It sets the stage for the entire animation for me. It is so happy that it makes me smile.

In 6th place is… ...Rocque with “Another Airport Experience”

Here’s what the judges have to say about your sketch:
“The music you've used on this is a bit creepy; it certainly adds to the nightmare airport experience. I like the subtle jokes you've hidden in the video. Good work with the effects like the lightning and raindrops.
I'm not sure what's happening with the announcer in the video, she seems to be appearing and disappearing quite a lot. I would advise against slowing down Muvizu clips as you've done in the waiting area scene since the frame-rate looks a bit odd.
Overall, I can see some improvements to be made, but this is still a very good video.”
“Comes across as a chaotic collage, but I know that's because she didn't quite have the technical knowledge to get what she wanted (yet).”
“A good idea and nice central joke. Editing a little distracting though.”

In 5th place is… ....eugenecheese with “Summer Holiday - Wimbledon”

Here’s what the judges have to say about your sketch:
“Short, simple, and funny. I like the subtle smoke effect so show they've rushed out of the stadium.
I think the lighting on the character needs to be turned down a tiny bit because it looks slightly odd, but there's nothing else really wrong with this.”
“Good timing, only thing that lets it down is the absence of rain - Muvizu rain is black under this lighting, so it's hard to see, and there's no rain in the background picture to help.”
“Very simple but effective clip. Maybe a little confusing for non UK viewers”

In 4th place is… ...clayster2012 with “Popping Corn Dog”

Here’s what the judges have to say about your sketch:
“I like the custom models you have in this one, especially the tent. I also like how you used the ol' zoom into the face technique to show something happening when it's difficult in Muvizu.
I think the timing of the sound effect is about half a second off the reaction, and the fire lighting could be improved by having a single static orange light along with all the flashing ones.
Overall, this is a well rounded sketch.”
“Nicely constructed, lit and shot, but lacks humour (in the sense of a proper punchline).”
“Nice selection of imported objects as you would expect from Clayster (although I don’t actually know what a corn dog is!)”

“Another great camping based sketch. I liked the careful animation of the effects (Like the puking one), and how you managed to get everything falling off the table smoothly (I don't think I can pull it off that well).
As with Clayster's fire lighting, something looks a little odd when it's all flashing lights. You need a static light in there too somewhere.
Good work, ikes!”
“Good sense of what's going on despite the chaos, so it works. The lighting looks like a strobe though - multiple flickering lights set at a lower rate works better for fires, I find.”
“Nice production values. I think I was at that party!”

“I like the pace of this video, and everything's still understandable. Good use of sound effects and camera shake.
I don't think there's much I can criticise in this video, apart from I've never been to an airport where the check in desks are that brightly coloured.”

Thanks for the nice comments Tony. I think your work is incredible with using the studio, but it would be fun to see what you do with other techniques. Pat gave good reasons to "mix" up what we use. Once I get better at using sets and moving around in them and making adjustments, I hope to use more of those throughout the animations.

I love anime and the techniques they use. If I could make a still shot come to life that would be fun, and then to be able to create that washed out water color look to it would be fun, too. Maybe in the future. I like a lot of styles, from bight and bold colors to subtle. I would hate to get bogged down by just one style. But the ability to freely navigate a 3D scene with a camera is a great feature, opening possibilities that probably shouldn't be relinquished lightly. Nothing looks better than a fully 3D environment with lots of camera movement.

I'm of the opinion that since we use scenes, some of which are stationary, it makes sense to use all these techniques.

If your camera zooms around all the time, it gets boring. Mix it up, framing each scene in whatever way captures the idea best. Sometimes that will mean full 3d camera rotation, sometimes it means a stationary scene with flat backgrounds. 1) put the announcer's video clip above or below whatever clip you want it to display with.

2) Align them on the timeline so they start and finish at the same time.

3) click on each one of the clips and CONTROL > TRANSFORM > POSITION (slide one of the clips to the left, and the other clip to the right)

You can adjust a lot of things in there and at first the shape was just black and when I got that effect to turn up after playing with the controls I was happy.
I have always wanted to name an airline from Wisconsin, Dairy Air. This is a close as I will ever get.

I wanted to make the whole airport in Muvizu but did not have enough time. I have quite a few props I had to scrap but was happy to find the tri-plane. I had to find a way to use it. I hope to use more key framing in the future and hope to get better with it. It might be a great way to zoom in on things.

I did finally get to watch all the other entries and they are so much fun and so different. I am glad I am not judging. I enjoyed them all. I would love to try popping a corn dog. The Hawaiian adventure was classic one, Tony. I enjoyed the ending. I saw a special once on Cliff Richard and he was a very successful composer of several hit songs. It was nice to see him in a cartoon. I am not sure how many in the US really know who he is. Pat, you have a lot of scenes in a short amount of time. I love the ending...so sneaky. The fire was expertly crafted, Speedking5, and could probably happen on a big camping trip. The look of shock on the characters was timed to perfection.

I managed to get a smooth, well sort of smooth, well anyway, I finally figured out key framing for a camera only to end up cutting the footage since it did not transfer well in HitFilm. But I am one step closer to getting better at key framing, and that right there is one win on this contest for me. Yay.

Basically the video depicts about 13 or 14 vacation scenarios that I would hate to experience... starting with getting squished on the flight between two other passengers... then going on to include everything from lost luggage, a really bad hotel, gnats on the beach, rain, a speeding ticket, a beach bar where all the girls are dogs (both literally and figuratively), close encounters with a shark and a bear, no toilet paper when you need it most, getting mugged, car breakdown, and finally a relaxing day floating down the river of death.

Great job on the set and on setting a believable mood with party music! The story did escalate quickly, but it remained cohesive and continued to make sense throughout. Fires DO tend to flare up quickly, after all.

It's looking like I won't have time for this contest, unless I get inspired in a couple of different ways and wrap up some other commitments way earlier than expected. In addition to the main commitment that's keeping me busy, I promised Clayster a set of utility mood songs for his finger pistols series. Just back from finding one 5 second video with my least favorite word in it as the main word. Well there is one word that might be more offensive, but that is not the point. I see what they did, and it was sort of the direction I was going in. It will be a new challenge and I won't have to spend a lot of time wondering about the sets, or will I? In any case I am going with my own style.

Unfortunately, I normally vacation at the beach, so I need a beach set in order to make the video... Once I make my own beach set I won't need the prize. (Not a problem, since I probably won't win anyway ... ;-) )

Have you ever been on holiday and had something awful happen to you? An alien invasion or zombie apocalypse, perhaps? Maybe it was just your ice cream scoop falling out of your cone?

Well now’s your time to show us what happened (And hopefully make us laugh). You have 20 seconds to fill, so you better make these stories snappy!

Here are the official rules:

The video should be about your worst (or at least a bad) holiday experience. (It doesn’t have to be true!)
The video must be 20 seconds or less. (Not including titles)
The video must be made in Muvizu, but editing and compositing in external programs is allowed.
The video must not contain any copyrighted material. (We don’t want your videos to be taken down over something like this)
Participants may post more than one entry, but this will not help your chances for the randomly selected prize.
You must post your submission in this thread before midnight on Sunday 14th of August (It’s probably best to upload though the Muvizu site, then get the link from YouTube to post here).

Two winners will be selected:
1. The best video decided by a panel of judges.
2. A randomly selected video just to liven things up a bit.
Each winner will receive the beach set shown in the video, as well as this house set kindly donated by Muvizu Mogul Ziggy72:
