It would be very helpful if there could be a Head animation mode that was a smaller range of motion.

I find it's difficult sometimes to do head animations, the head is almost too sensitive and can easily be cranked too quickly to an extreme looking too far to the left or up.

More subtle turns or nods would be a great second head animation mode. Thanks.

It's being worked on as we speak. Hopefully it'll make the release in a few weeks - but no promises.

The head animation node can be very sensitive, that's true, but once you realise how sensitive it is and how even slight offset from the centre can move the head, then you get a better understanding of it and you do get used to it.
It can be difficult to use if you're click-dragging it, as it can go all over the place. One way of avoiding that is to point-click it instead, which is far more precise and which the node is better used for. Just click on one point in the node and the head will move to it then move to another point and click on that one (no click-dragging needed). The timeline will clearly show these two points, whereas if you click-dragged it, the timeline would create numerous points for the head movement, making it difficult to adjust.

Thanks barrys. And freakmoomin for tips in the meantime.

Also, down the road hopefully a Muvizuer can have the option to set guides as to the way the head moves: On arcs or linear.

Whether shallow or very apparent arcs are usually there for the animation to look natural and good. There might be a quick linear darting look, but generally there are arcs.

I use a different method.....

Just start start animating the head movement with the click and drag method. Get the head to look where you want and stop animating. It doesn't matter if there's a lot of flopping about as long as it ends up where you want it.

Then edit the timeline. You'll see that all your little head movemnets are there. These are absolute positions rather than relative, so it's only the last movement you want as this sets the head where you want. Delete all the head movements except for the last one, then move this head movement to the position you want.

I know it's a hassle, but I find this works for me.

Fantastic tip!

This would have improved my previous efforts a fair bit!. It's little things like this that can make all the difference

Timeline tweaking is really going to be a main focus for the Muvizu frequent flyer in the future me thinks!

cheers and thanks!
