Hi there
What is the minimum spec to run muvizu
I have
xp machine svc pack 3
AMD Turion64 ML-32 with 1.87 gb f ram.
ATI Radeon xpress 200m display adapter
The mouse moves very slooooowly around the screen.
Any ways in which I can improve th speed.
I have made sure only the virus protection software is running and cut down on the services and any tasks that arernning. But it is still very slow.
The program loads ok but then the mouse is delayed in moving around the screen.

Hi Ghrenig

To run the application properly, your PC should be at least equal to these specs:
  • 2.4GHz processor
  • Nvidia 7800 GTX or ATI 1300 graphics card
  • 2.3GB free drive space
Your PC also needs the version of DirectX that was released in August 2008 or later and Microsoft's .NET Framework version 2 or higher. This is included in the installer, but if you already have it, the individual component installers will either tell you or just skip any unnecessary process. You can then continue to the next step in installing the application.

Generally speaking, if you keep the number of characters and lights down, and close down any other applications running at the same time, it should improve the performance.

Hope that helps!

Thanks Emily.
I reduced my screen size, disconnected my web connection and virus monitoring software and it started to run smoother.
One problem I had was downloading the file as even on broadband in the wilds of west wales it takes sometime to down load 500mg.
It would download 120 meg and then drop out. So I downloaded the free downloader from http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/ which is totally free and just left it to overnight. Next day the complete packge had downloaded with out any pain.

Excllent program cannot wait to see it develop to its true potential.

Hi Ghrenig,

Thanks for your patience with the download, now that you've got Muvizu up and running, I'm sure you can make something awesome with it!

It would be worth your while to enter our any good vids int our competition, you could win some pretty nice prizes.

Check it out at http://raindance.tv/muvizu or at http://www.muvizu.com/SiteNews/Default.aspx?did=63.

All the best,

Emily

Kaynine

MY PC isn't up to spec (especially in th GC area) but I have managed to use MUVIZU - some more suggestions

1. Reduce your monitor resolution.
2. Lower your Muvizu resolution to it's lowest level
3. Stop searchinder.exe if you have it running
4. look for any other unnecessary programs running and close them.
5. Keep scenes simple. Not too many characters/objects/lights etc
6. Attempt to produce a competition winning animation!

all the best

Hi again Kaynine,

The only two things that are missing when you are working offline:

The option to upload to YouTube directly from Muvizu
The ability to use uploaded pictures directly from Muvizu- when you are logged in Muvizu can use images that you have uploaded to the website.

There are a few ways to increase your performance, depending on your operating system and processor.

All Operating Systems, all processors:

Make sure you have as much free space on the hard drive as possible and that it has been Defragmented recently.
You can access it by going to My Computer and Right-Click on the hard drive then go to Tools then Defragment.

All Operating Systems, all processors:
Reducing the number of programmes that are running when you start Windows - this can be done in many ways but the simplest that I have found is by using the programme "Spybot - Search and destroy" (which is also quite a good spyware scanner) it can be found at: http://download.cnet.com/Spybot-Search-amp-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10122137.html

If do give it a try you would probably want to disable the installation of Tea Timer and SDHelper as AVG already performs the job that they do.

Once it's installed and updated you can access Advanced Mode by going to Mode>Advanced Mode, from there if you click on Tools then System Startup you can choose which programmes run at launch.

I deselect all programmes that I recognise as not needed at launch and if there are any that I don't know I Google them to see if they are necessary, but please be careful and remember that any third party software is used at your own risk.

Windows 7 and Vista, all processors

Windows 7 and Vista can have their performance increased by closing the Windows side bar and by disabling Windows Aero.

Close Side Bar:
The following tutorial is pretty easy to follow:
http://www.tutorialized.com/view/tutorial/How-to-close-or-exit-Sidebar-in-Windows-Vista-%7BTutorial-for-beginners%7D/27223

Disable Windows Aero:
This is also a pretty decent tutorial:
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/disable-aero-on-windows-vista/

AMD Processor, all operating systems
AMD/ATI released a tool that closes down all background programmes for people using an AMD processor (unfortunately they haven't released a version that works with Intel) it's pretty simple - you download it from http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_fusion.aspx?p=1 and you should simply have to click on the centre of the big grey button that appears in order to close all of your background applications. Again, all 3rd party software is used at your own risk.

This isn't an exhaustive guide on getting the most performance out of your pc, but it is a guide to some of the things that I have done in the past.

Take care,
-Jim
