Hopefully this interview with our MD (and TB) will answer your question:

http://myclone.wordpress.com/2010/07/16/the-myclone-interview-vince-ryan-of-muvizu/

---

myClone: I’m curious about the Muvizu business model. From what I read you’re obviously not going down the Moviestorm route — which is a quick free trial and then a lock-in with monthly subscriptions. You seem to be veering toward iClone’s more open route — sell a premium Pro version, premium model-import tools, and high-quality themed content packs?

Vince: The model you have us down for isn’t quite right. We intend to release only one version, as we’ve got now, and to try to keep on improving it. We don’t see any advantage in trying to make people pay to use it; as I said earlier and as you know, we want the world and his/her uncle/aunt to use it. The more the merrier.

myClone: Muvizu will always be free? You heard it here first, readers. That’s… quite radical. Why?

Vince: Because the more people who use it, the more likely it is that someone will create something that goes stellar. It’s at that point where a Muvizu creation makes money — when we come knocking on the door to get our cut. We also have a licensing model, such as for internal use by corporates or by people who use Muvizu for advertising, promotions etc. But whatever the scenario we negotiate on a case-by-case basis. There has to be a sense of proportion; some little outfits can benefit from churning out the odd, quirky Muvizu clip — but it has to be at a price that makes sense to them.

Sounds good, I think when muvizu kicks off big style as a
complete easy animation package , I know I would buy it, but I think
muvizu should not overcharge for it like iclone.

It's a secret that only Vince himself can divulge.

Our goal with Muvizu is to keep it as accessible as possible - so I wouldn't be worrying about the freemium paranoia that takes over with applications like these (i.e. tiered functionality based on payment). Keep on making Muvizu videos

So, I understand then if we don't make any money and don't advertise something then there definately won't be a payment required no matter how good or long the vid is...?

Also I would hope any 'Slice' is made after taxes as some places in the world you only really get left with 40% or even less of what you earn depending on circumstances...

On an individual basis I understand but any hints perhaps of what a 'Cut' maybe for a comercial success for a one man production, 1%, 5%, 10%, 20% or more? ...

Hi Than,

I can't answer that myself, but if you fire an e-mail to contact@muvizu.com with any commercial questions Vince will be able to fill you in.

Take care,
-Jim.

Hi Than,
There are no strict rules about this at the moment. The 'cut' is reviewed on a case by case basis - and this will be done via our MD Vince. But circumstances and the nature of the project are taken heavily into consideration.

Fair enough, if I ever come by cash due to a muvizu venture i'll contact vince when it happens.

Pretty sure I won't make money with my first project as I intend it for free to view you tube.

Perhaps you guys will like it soooo much you will offer me a job at muvizu one day, but probably not as I won't be living in scotland, but one can only day dream ...

I'm doing a project that will be in many parts as it's a full story. Done most the sets for part one, have the story done for all parts, need to do dialogue and animation when I have the release with moving cameras, it needs moving cameras. So still plenty to do before I finish part one.

That's jolly decent of you, but I'd like to think that I'd get to you first ;-)

Now, is that me talking as MD or as TB? (Someone was wondering what that stood for: I suppose any MD could also be either a total or totalitarian bastard/bitch/bore/brute etc. I think that bumfmeister could work in my case.)
