Hello! Quite new, trying something very simple, and I'm not finding many results when I search for it, so I'm guessing it's something simple I'm missing that people normally figure out on their own quite quickly.

My question is how to make an object appear in-frame part-way through a production. Specifically, what I'm trying to do is show a character's "thought-bubble". I made 3 little white spheres slowly getting larger above his head, and a backdrop above that, which is displaying a 2nd camera showing his animated thoughts.

The easiest way to do this would be to make the objects invisible, and then direct them into visibility while recording, but I haven't figured a way to do that. Or if an object can be sitting off-camera, and then move it at infinite speed into place, giving the appearance of suddenly appearing...

There is a pinned How-do-I topic on making an object or character disappear by splicing together two videos one with the character, one without, but if there's a cleverer way than making 5 separate video files, one with no bubbles, 1 with 1 bubble, 1 with 2, 1 with 3, and then 1 with all 3 bubbles plus the backdrop, I'd love to know it!

Select one of the spheres. Then either right click and select Prepare -> object properties or use the Prepare menu at the top and select object properties. In the Track dropdown, select "Visible" then select "Animate" in the dropdown below that. You'll get a little checkbox. Check means visible, unchecked means invisible. Switch to direct and check and uncheck as you see fit. Repeat for each part of your thought bubble.

Hope this helps!

I was playing *right there* but just couldn't figure that sequence out - Thanks, much!

Wish the excellent video series by Muvizu going over all these things weren't 3-5 years old. Animation is pretty new to me & about 90% of what I've learned about Muvizu so far has been from those videos... but they're based on such old versions of the program that many of the menus & features are different now, so I get lost easy.

I appreciate the active forum community & fast response!
