Remiel,1. obviously I was not yelling, typing is not my forte, and if my caps is on and I don't realize it til I'm well into it, I think people will know the difference. 2. I stated clearly the flash drive is for my laptop failed as well as every other method...the laptop issue will get resolved later, I'm just glad to finally (using my PC), be able to create animations again with MuvizuPlay+. Thanks though for your input.

It was all tongue-in-cheek there buddy... glad to hear you're up and running again.

"HE RENDERED MY LAPTOP USELESS WITHOUT AN OPERATING SYSTEM FOR WHICH I HAVE NO RECOVERY DISKS, AND THE RECOVERY PARTITION FAILED TOO, ALONG WITH ME EVEN TRYING TO WIPE THAT AND START OVER...ASUS WANTS ME TO PURCHASE THE RECOVERY DISKS FOR A $1K LAPTOP I BOUGHT 3 YEARS AGO...I MIGHT HAVE TO ADN GO BACK TO WIN7 ON THAT AND START COMPLETELY FROM SCRATCH WITH THE LAPTOP..."

Actually, to confirm, if you did create a fully bootable flash drive you should be fine using that on the laptop. If all you have on it is an upgrade .exe then you'll need to get on the Windows 10 website and create another from .iso file.

Go here for pretty much all you need to know to do it yourself: http://www.howtogeek.com/224342/how-to-clean-install-windows-10/

Windows 10 Update Issue HELP! MuvizuPlay+. First off, NO NEED TO YELL! All caps is kind of annoying to anyone on the internet, just so you're aware...

Second, you mentioned you have a flash drive boot disc that you used to install Win10 on your PC? Use that for your laptop. You have everything you need there.

Get the Xvid codec off my page if you're paranoid that you don't want to download anything off of a site you're unsure of. It's the exact codec I'm using and it works fine. But if you ever question downloads from other sites, just scan them before you open them and always uncheck the little boxes for add-on software by always doing a custom install. Never do the standard installations on files you're unsure of.

Here's the codec. If you click below it will automatically download to your machine.

Windows 10 Update Issue HELP! MuvizuPlay+. I do find it somewhat odd that we don't have d/l access to choose stable vs beta releases on a download page, rather than our only choice being the beta. But that's just me

Phew - and I was just thinking about upgrading to Windows 10 - I don't think I will bother until it is all sorted.

For the most part, if you take care of your file structures and software updates on your machine, you'll love Win10. It IS still in beta, and don't force an upgrade until MS tells you your machine is ready. They're partitioning the upgrades to machines they have a good handle they should work with.

Again, most OS upgrades fail because the machine isn't ready. If you want to use Muvizu regularly, wait until they get a stable version that works with Win10, wait another month, then try it out. You have a month to revert back to your previous OS.

Windows 10 Update Issue HELP! MuvizuPlay+. It's all good Brian,

I've done everything imaginable on this end. I'm all good with the techie stuff as far as drivers and software go. I've reverted, reinverted, reinvented and even stood on my head I think to make this work again, less of course reverting back to Win7. Not something I'm up to doing at the moment.

It's not just other software conflicts in my machine. The calls inside the program are not finding the core files for the program and I think many are seeing the same problem here..

If some folks could confirm they're all getting the same errors I did, I'd be more inclined to think there's something that got miscoded in the last upgrade fix. (ie. an extra colon or comma or a line or two of code accidentally got deleted before compiling perhaps)

I'm sure it will be figured out. Unless there's something Win10 is doing that the program guys didn't see coming.

Windows 10 Update Issue HELP! MuvizuPlay+. Yes, the forced "install" as I called it was a bit inappropriate... forcing a DirectX 9 "application load" would have been better, is only done to the shortcut used to load the "muvizu.exe" file (application) and I've since corrected the post. Sorry for any confusion!

As for Win10... honestly, I love it. I have upgraded 4 machines without a hitch and their running better than ever!

Most of the problems people encounter are based on machines with so much garbage on them to begin with. A little regular maintenance, driver updating and file clean-up can go a long way when it comes to these types of OS upgrades. I'm a huge fan of CCleaner and use it regularly along with a monthly dose of DeFraggler.

I know its still beta, so I have nothing to complain about.

Problem after doing the upgrade help please Hey Brian,

The -dx9 forced run doesn't work for me over here with a ATI Radeon HD 4770... it'll get me past the error screen, but then it just locks up.

This is the error we're all getting I believe, I've posted this and a link to my dump file on the other thread about Win10 crashes:

The dump file is over 200 mb, and I'm currently uploading HERE as of this posting, might be a few minutes yet.

Hello EEFilmz...

1. TASKBAR ICON IS NOT force loading DirectX 9. Just use the desktop icon (The one you edited) until we get a Final Release.

2. The reason for the maintenance releases every week (wishful thinking) is they are still working on this Update. It is not a Final Release Version yet. This is the best way for us to help work out the bugs.

Hope this helps

Brian

Hey Brian,

Just did a Windows 10 update from a Win7 Home over here last night and didn't find this thread until it was too late

The -dx9 forced app load doesn't work for me here, but it does get rid of the fatal error shown below that pops up without the override, either I close the fatal error and the program escapes itself, or I use the override, then muvizu.exe locks up up after the Muvivu splash screens (both of them) open up. Running an ATI Radeon HD 4770 over here (I know don't laugh, it's old There are some documented problems with ATI CCC (custom controls console) with the supposed "new" drivers in 10, but I reverted to legacy and there was no change.

Gets about 292mb into the drive data then program seizes up and I have to stop the process with Task Manager every time.

Used the 8.05 install originally, updated to 8.20 then tried the whole install->update from 8.05 again after uninstalling. No go.

Could use info on progress a.s.a.p. was right in the middle of a project when this all fell apart.

Dump File (Muvivu.DMP as .zip) can be found HERE

Thanks,

Remiel
