Hello Muvizu,
I have been trying since yesterday to install this piece of animation software to no avail. I firstly tried to install it on a laptop running Vista and I finally (after countless attempts) got to the installer which told me I didn't have enough room. Fair enough, I deleted things and it then told me that I had less space available than before. I'm not sure if that's the computer's fault, I wouldn't be surprised if it is because it has become useless recently.
I have been trying to install Muvizu on my Windows 7 netbook since around 9:00 this morning and every time it saved (at LEAST 6 times, probably 40 minutes each download) it failed its own integrity check. Here is the error message:
"Installer integrity check has failed. Common causes include
incomplete download and damaged media. Contact the
installer's author to obtain a new copy.
More information at:
http://nsis.sf.net/NSIS_Error
"
I have attempted both with Internet Explorer 8 and the latest version of Firefox. It is incredibly annoying.
I have cleared my cache as the above website suggests, I do not have any download accelerators or managers, I have not had a problem with the anti-virus blocking my software before and I do not have the nVidia firewall.
Please advise me on alternative ways to install this software without risking my computer or using the /NCRC command line switch as Muvizu looks very user-friendly but doesn't work for me. If you are unable to fix it then I'll have to find another piece of animation software.
Thanks,

Hi Dark-Soul,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble installing Muvizu - hopefully we can get to the bottom of it.

When you right-click on the Muvizu installer and go to Properties what size does Windows say it is? It should be 478 MB (502,228,007 bytes)

I am in the process of downloading and checking the installer on a Windows 7 machine, just to check if there is a problem with the download server.

Take care,
-Jim.

Hello again,

I was able to download and install the programme correctly so it looks like the download server is working correctly, if you let us know the size of the install file it will allow us to see if there has been a problem with your connection to the download server.

Take care,
-Jim.

They're 479 MB; I'll try to install it again to see if my connection is any better this morning. Fingers crossed!

Dang, the Devs are in the process of uploading a new version of the software to the site, so I would suggest is deleting all of your existing Muvizu downloads (so that the new one is called Muvizu.exe, not Muvizu(1).exe etc) and giving the new installer a try (it should be available in around 10 minutes).

Hopefully this will work, if not I will need to poke the Devs in the head a bit more......

Hi,
Sorry to be a pain again, but it didn't work. The file was the right size again, so I don't think that my connection is the problem this time either. This is annoying - I really want to use Muvizu...

Hi again,

Sorry to hear it hasn't worked yet - we are trying to figure out the specific cause for you.

What percentage does the Verification get to before it gives you the error?

It gave me a different percentage everytime, even though it was the same installer. The first time I got 95%, the second time I got 98% and the third time I got to 97%. Its so close!
Thanks for all this help,

Thanks Dark Soul,

That definitely implies that the file has been damaged during transfer - could you please tell me what size it is in bytes? If there is only a small amount of data missing it wouldn't alter the size in MB. You can find this by right-clicking on the installer and going to properties.

One other thing you could try is downloading the installer from another location - the link on the download page directs you to an external server which can handle high volumes of traffic but if you go to

http://www.muvizu.com/Download/Muvizu.exe

You will be downloading the installer directly from ourselves, so if this error is being caused by problems between your machine and our external servers it could be the solution.

Fingers crossed, and I am happy to help
-Jim.

Okay, Jim,
'Properties' gave me two different sizes and I'm not sure which one you want, so I'm including both.
Muvizu size: 479 MB (502,522,158 bytes)
Muvizu size on disk: 479 MB (502,525,952 bytes)
And, sorry to be a pain again, but that link didn't work either. It got to 97%.
Thanks again!

Hi again Dark Soul,

The "Muvizu size on disk" varies from machine to machine for various reasons including disk fragmentation and compression but the "Muvizu size" should be the same for everyone.

The size of the file should be 479 MB (502,522,018 bytes) so you have 140 bytes of extra data - so something has added the extra information to the file causing it to fail the integrity check.

The first thing to do is run a virus and spyware check (in order to rule malaware/spyware and viruses out)- I saw from your first post that you have antivirus software already - what one do you use? I personally use AVG Free (http://download.cnet.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10320142.html) and Malawarebytes (http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?tag=mncol).

While you are doing that I am looking into a few ways that we can repair the file on your PC.

Hi Dark Soul,

Muvizu has just been uploaded to Filefront so that there is an alternative download location.

You can find it at: www.filefront.com/17186799/Muvizu.exe/

Downloading from a mirror might sort out your Integrity Check error.

Take care,
-Jim.

Hi Jim you seem to know a lot about this so I feel that I should ask you. I have tried all the solutions suggested and I don't even get to the installer before I get the NSIS error Message. I have 398 MB (418,320,660 bytes) of Muvizu on my system after doing it from the download page. Please help me I had the old one but then my computer crashed and I lost everything so now I am trying to download the new one which I have to say looks much better. Thanks Simonh97

Hi Simon,

398mb is about 150mb too small - it's possible that there is a problem between our download server and your PC, so I would recommend downloading it from one of our mirrors:

http://www.gamershell.com/download_66696.shtml

http://www.gamefront.com/files/17580067/Muvizu.exe/

If that doesn't work please let us know.

Take it easy,
-Jim

Hi Simon.

Could you give us a little more information about that error code? Is there any other text that appears when you get it? Is there enough room on the hard drive that you're trying to put the file onto?
