Posts: 399 		What happened? All three parts are no longer listed on Muvizu, but are still there on YouTube, unrestricted. No e-mail or message was sent to me explaining why.

Posts: 399 		I see it now, wasn't there a moment ago. Also noticed a huge number of Muvizu videos made by other users are gone.

If it's banned in Germany, it's banned on Muvizu.com. Rather totalitarian if you ask me.

So now my next two projects will be banned here, as well. Kind of puts me off of the entire Muvizu concept entirely. Don't expect much from me from now on. Muvizu has become a dead-end.

Posts: 975 		Yes, one of mine has gone from Muvizu as well - I expect we'll have an explanation soon from Muvizu HQ.

It's clearly something to do with copyright infringement.

Posts: 1988 		Yup, my Kung Fu International vid got removed too, and it was the only one that showed any kind of copyright issue - with Germany. I reposted it though, and it's still fine - YouTube removed syndication from the original vid, that's why (I think) it got removed from Muvizu. I fear that eventually YouTube will do the same with the repost, and one day turn off the syndication again and remove it from here. This being the case, it would make posting vids on the Muvizu site kinda pointless - I can understand YouTube removing it completely, but if it's still there on your YT page why cant 3rd party sites (like here) still list it too?

The deal YouTube has with EMI (or whoever) in Germany probably gives them a cut of the advertising revenue.

If the video is embedded in Muvizu's site then EMI don't get a cut of the Muvizu ads.

I appreciate your frustration but please don't give up on Muvizu.

You've produced some excellent animations which demonstrate a real talent and it would be a shame to lose you.

This is bound to be a copyright issue and nothing to do with the Muvizu team; they may not even realise what has happened. The same thing would have happened whatever software was used.

There is also free software out there that will let you download your animations from Youtube so all is not lost.

I’ve had a look in to why these videos aren’t available on the site now and it’s because YouTube has removed them from their API feed and marked them as ‘restricted access’. What usually happens is that YouTube has detected that there is some copyrighted audio in your video and thus limited it’s availability to certain countries. When you go to view the video on youtube.com they will look-up your IP address and make sure you’re not in a country that has a copyright claim on that audio.

Now, in Muvizu, we connect to YouTube using their public API feed, and because our servers could be anywhere in the world, and so not in the same location as the viewer of this website, if a video is restricted in any country, then it is entirely restricted from letting us access it via the API. So, basically, YouTube remove these videos from their public feed so we have no way of knowing about them and showing them on the website. So, we haven’t removed your videos from the site, they’ve just been removed by YouTube from their feed and that has filtered through to this site. Basically, they must have automatically detected that these videos contained copyrighted audio, or someone made a copyright claim on them, or there’s some country-specific ad deal with the audio I suspect.

Hope that makes sense, and apologies for any confusion. The solution, of course, is to use copyright-free audio.

Actually - forgot - from your Youtube account page you can download any of your own videos.

Posts: 399 		Yesterday, the videos were not allowed to be embedded, today, it's as if it never happened (http://wn.com/nick_danger ). Either YouTube made a mistake or are now fighting off the rath of thousands of unhappy users. In either case, they are "embed-able" now.

Question: How do I go about re-instating them? I would re-upload, but I no longer have them (hard drive crash).

Download your own uploaded videos to MP4
  • Sign into your account.
  • Click on your username in the top right hand corner of your screen and select http://www.youtube.com/my_videos from the expanded menu.
  • Find the video you'd like to download and click the triangle button next to Edit and Insight. Once you've clicked on the triangle, select Download MP4 from the drop down menu.

    Unfortunately, if the copyright has been challenged, they will not allow you to download them.

    We are terrible sorry about this guys, but at the end of the day there is nothing we can do. YouTube decides which videos can be used externally or not.
    Our advice from now on is, be extra careful with copyrighted content used on your videos.
