In the new version of Muvizu has there been an alteration in scale? The reason that I'm asking is that when I'm modeling new props I made a set of measures and calculations so that props would 'look right' in the Muviverse. The basis of these calculations was that 0.46 cm was the correct hight for a seat or bench when a standard character is in sitting position. Now on importing a new model into Muvizu made to my pre existing scales...props are gigantic...I mean huge....I mean bigger than the Greek deficit...vaster than a Godfrey Bloom howler...more humongous than a Lib Dem compromise...as large as a bankers bonus...as epic as a Muvizu staff bar bill...honest...they are a bit big.

I may be wrong here, but I think that, for some reason, everything imports that size, regardless of how big it was anywhere else.
If you want to import, say, a spoon, it imports the same size as, say, a dinosaur.

I'm not sure if this is correct, but I think Muvizu need to do something about it.

yes scale is different when I converted my sets my characters were way huger then when they were in 23b when in the sets. Things were out of whack the conversion is not 1:1

Thanks guys, although I'm still having difficulties.

Here's the problem. I'm designing a set. I want to build the set from scratch with each of the buildings in the set as a separate model so that I can reuse the set in a different configuration (or other Muvizu users can use it) as and when I need it. Now my initial rough build of the set is in place, as per the graphic, and I'm getting ready to start on the detail with the initial build scaled to my former Muvizu proportions. However to import the set models into the current build of Muvizu I need to shrink the size of each model in a uniform manner so that they fit together correctly in Muvizu and will actually fit inside the Muvizu world space. Roughly as a percentile by how much would I need to reduce the scale of the models?

I am using blender so I dont think my sizes would work well. As I actually need to scale my things up but buldings i do x8 which probably means nothing to you as blender builds in cm and not meters I dont know what sketchup uses if this is sketchup. What I do is take one piece of whatever it is i am building and build in the default size in blender which is actually teeny tiny.

Import it and write down the size i scaled it up and then scale each other item in the set by the same dimensions and break stuff up and put each piece in different layers to do this. I am unsure of how that would translate for you but I do a test building with a copy of the item and write down the numbers I scaled by and then apply that to all my buildings for me its usually x5 or x8, but sometimes I make stuff for iclone and then decide to use in muvizu then I have to scale down by like 20 times or more depending on what it is...

so that is my best answer make a seperate copy of the set cut out the one building you wanted and import that until your happy with the size. Then write it down and apply it to the entire layout.

sorry

you can alter scale MR Dr its just there is a limit as to how large you can scale things up muvizu wont allow objects to go beyond a certain size. Its also not practical to make objects too small as if you drop them they can bounce wildly as muvizu likes fat things. I have made a few tiny things for ziggy but I would never place it in the gallery because they can have some interesting side effects.

According to my own (Sketchup) experience, the Law Of Bigness in Muvizu runs along these lines : All individual ASE imports must be less than 30 metres (3000 cm, 1180 inches, or 98 feet) on it's longest side in Sketchup or else you can't import it from any starting point without clipping the dome and getting that damn message.

I also remove most of the collision volume, which probably helps too. I scale everything in SU to twice actual (real world) size to avoid 'object too small' messages (does that still happen now?) and generally everything is right-ish with the characters at default scale with scope to resize either way. Hope some of this helps

erm i think i read ukberty saying that this message 'the object is too small' is now gone. I dont remember where I read it just in a thread on the last release somewhere maybe even in the beta forum not sure

I remember him saying that, although I'm not sure when either.

my 2p's worth.... if im making a model that has to have a specific size to use in muvizu (for example.... a vehicle) i have muvizu and sketch up running together and go for the trial and error approach and keep scaling and exporting till i get what i want. it only takes a few attempts to get there (usually) if its a smaller object i leave it at the size i make it in sketch up and just use muvizu for the scaling. i work in metres and know from experience the lady scale thing thats there at startup comes roughly up to the shoulder of a standard muvizu character and thats my initial guide.

I've just spent an evening scaling and importing into Muvizu and finally calculated that each model needs reducing to 6% of the size of previous models. There's no mathematics involved in the calculations....just a lot of caffeine and nicotine and quite a bit of guesswork. Only problem is that I now have troubles with smoothing groups. back to the drawing board!

Yes - I can confirm that the "object too small" has gone from the absolute latest version.

It still seems to be in the 64 bit version...I've been trying to import a christmas hat and I was getting that message. However, now I'm finding that after a single acceptable import last week all my models come in at fixed size (by sight) no matter how big or small I scale them before the export/import process (provided they're not too small). I even repeated the mustang lesson process to make sure I wasn't going mad and it comes in tiny (character foot sized) to the zu when it was person sized in sketchup. Am I being thick with some setting somewhere?

Really...how interesting...isn't SPAM also measured on scales too?

I can say that because you posted a link to a site that (probably) sells actual scales, when the thread is about 3D objects and how to scale them. That smells like spam to me.

Amazing. This spammer probably doesn't even know what this site is all about. It's an animation software site. It has nothing to do with scales in the physical sense. You failed as a spammer. It's laughable.
