Posts: 176 		Hi Y'all, unexpectedly the (lagareth) .AVI files I use as archive files from MUvizu have stopped working (!) I don't really want to render as uncompressed so I thought I'd try the new render as .MP4 that Muvizu supports, problem is there are no presets just a value slider for bits per second. I don't know what value to use.

Posts: 1738 		are you saying that when you render your video to AVI it won't open in your video editor?

When rendering to MP4 I had a problem with some (not all) of the scenes failing to open in my video editor. The determining factor was whether or not the clip had audio. Clips without audio (MP4) wouldn't open for me in Adobe Premiere Elements 14

Bitrate isn´t the problem. Greater bitrates produce best image quality. If you are not able to open mp4 files in your video editing software that is for sure a codec issue. The best image quality is always obtained using uncompressed formats or image sequence. MP4 is a very compressed format and his edition is even nowdays a hard task to the majority of editing software including professional ones.Some time ago I had similar issues with Premiere Pro and I solved that searching for right codecs.

Posts: 176 		Thanks for the input guys. Fortunately I DID get my AVI files working again with some new codecs courtesy of VLC Media Player, I don't generally use MP4s in the editing process at all, it's just for distribution (web mainly)

As a result of a little homework I discovered that for HD 1920x1080 video stream was 4000 Kbps for a busy scene, I had set mine to 4928 Kbps which was a pretty good guess!

Posts: 2220 		For mp4, just put the slider to maximum since the file will be tiny anyway. However, I seriously reccomend using the image sequence output because it doesn't suffer from codec or compression issues.
