Cannot Make Movie Hi bonyman,

I have/had exactly the same problem as you with Windows XP.
The problem is still there but I've found a work-around which is not for the faint-of-heart.
I created a dual boot of Windows XP, this required a repartioning whilst not destroying the original XP installation. The new XP partition contains nothing other than XP, its updates and required video/audio card drivers.

Muvizu now works fine on the new XP partition but still give the same error as you have on the original partition. I too have Sony Vegas (8), and other video stuff, but didn't want to uninstall them to see if any of them were causing the problem as it would have been a pain to reinstall them all and all there plug-ins too. So I'll just live with the dual boot for now.

Small Bug I just tried that and it did the same for me.
If you go Edit Timeline and play the movie the character sits down at the end of the action when, I guess, he/she/it should remain standing.

Backrounds, textz and objects.... A lot of these effect would have been done using 3rd part applications after the Muvizu video was created.
You can add some custom effects such as background by selecting the IMPORT option, where available.
To add your own background select:
Create/Edit Environment/Sky (or Ground)/Import

VideoJoiner fails Hi,

I did not have the original avi's but was able to recreate the bug with another test.
The avi's I used, and the reported error message, have been emailed to the bug guys.

Thanks,
dB.

VideoJoiner fails Thanks for the tip, I'm using WinXp BTW.
I was just trying out a test with the video joiner, don't think my movies will ever be long enough to require joining.
If I do need to join there are, like you said , plenty avi joiners out there.

Thanks,
dB.

hiding character from camera Maybe this might be of use.
Test of vanishing/reappearing character in Muvizu.
Done by making 3 movies:

1) Make Movie with character upto vanishing point..
2) Remove character and record (ignore Muvizu complaining there's no character, if only 1 character in scene).
3) Make Movie with character reinstated.
4) Join the 3 segments in either the Muvizu VideoJoiner (which didn't work for me) or with another vid editing app ( I used Johnny Vegas ! ).

{ I tried uploading the movie to YouTube but YouTube seems to be very slow just now so you can view the test here...
http://www.neolithicscotland.co.uk/the_lady_vanishes }

P.S.
Just tried a few other tests with movement in the scene and was unable to make the character disappear and preserve movement flow.

VideoJoiner fails I tried VideoJoiner to join 3 small (5K, 13K & 22K in size) avi's created with Muvizu, but it would not work.
This is the error message, can anyone help ?

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Unable to Switch between Animation Sequences Hi,

Is it just me or is there a problem when you want to switch between, some, animation sequences.
i.e. I can't switch from "Shiver" to "Writing (looped)" the "Writing (looped)" option will not be actioned - the selection box looks 'greyed-out'.
Scrub that... just did a test and think I found out why this won't work.
It looks like the character can't go from a standing action to a sitting action, the working test I did was with the character starting in a sitting position and the Shiver/Writing sequence worked.
Can I do a Shiver(standing) to Writing(sitting) without having to sit the character down first ?

Thanks.
dB.

dogs Hi there,

I tried this very same thing earlier this morning (with an imported mask) and was unable to lip sync too.
I've a feeling that it is probably impossible to do - I made the lip area on my custom mask transparent but that didn't work.

Unable to Make Video : "The file is locked ..." Hi Jim,

I saw that post about Sony Vegas 7 and that he said, IIRC, that his friend had a later version of Sony Vegas installed and Muvizu worked OK with the later version of Vegas installed.
I have Sony Vegas 8 installed (and other Sony stuff, Ulead stuff, Pinnacle, Adobe, etc, etc) on the original boot but I don't want to remove it, or the other stuff, as it will be a pain-in-the-ass to have to reinstall it/them with all the plugins & settings too - not that creating a dual boot system wasn't a time consuming process

Have a nice time in Köln,
dB.

Unable to Make Video : "The file is locked ..." Okay, I got it working but it required some drastic measures.
To get Muvizu to make a movie I did a complete reinstall of Windows (as a dual boot) with nothing but the essentials, such as Graphics Drivers, Windows Updates, etc. Muvizu then worked just fine - so it looks like something I've installed on my PC is clashing with Muvizu.
No other video/audio drivers were installed, only the default ones that came with the above installation.
So, currently, if I need to make a movie I've to reboot to the basic Muvizu Windows installation - it's a bit of a muddle, but a workaround for now.

FYI: PC Configuration (both working & non-working with Muvizu).

OS: Windows XP Pro 32bit with SP3 and all latest Windows updates.
Graphics: Radeon HD5770 with 1Gig RAM, 875Mhz (overclocked to 950Mhz) with Version 10.7 drivers.
RAM: 4Gig.
CPU: Intel Quad Core Q6600 2.4GHz (overclocked to 3.3GHz).

Unable to Make Video : "The file is locked ..." Hi,

The .set file saves OK and I can double click on a saved .set file and Muvizu opens it up - no problem.
I've played around with un/re/installing Muvizu (to default & custom locations), DirectX, .Net 3.4 & 4, the C++2005 stuff, etc but still no joy.

Unable to Make Video : "The file is locked ..." Bit of an Update.

Just noticed that the 'Upload to Youtube' option is greyed out until the failed 'Make Video' option is completed, but I guess this
is why the Youtube error is displayed as the Movie is not created.
Tried all the resolutions/codecs as shown in picture below (with various mixes of resolutions & codecs) - no joy.
The error message is displayed after trying to save the Movie.

Unable to Make Video : "The file is locked ..." Hi Jim,
Yup, I tried saving the video to another location and that did not work.
I've also installed a Panasonic codec, uninstalled 'K-Lite Standard' then installed 'K-Lite Mega' - none of these helped.
