Sometime recently my .set thumbnails have stopped appearing as little images within windows explorer.
I may, by accident have unticked the box in the installation procedure for 1.6.
I left the box ticked for sure when installing 1.7 but the .set file icons still have no little images.
Having said that i have a folder where the icons do show as images.
if i move them out of this folder they lose their image. if i move a non image, .set file icon into the folder that has
image showing .set files they remain without the image.
i'm hoping there is a solution.Any help much appreciated.
Pulling my hair out with very little of it left.

still no sign of my thumbnail images. uninstalled all versions of muvizu and re installed still no thumbnail images.
Read on a previous thread that the registry may have altered somehow..
so found this .....no idea what i should do next.....could try changing that value to 1 instead of 0.
can anyone else see their registry entry and note any difference.Damn Computer..

I think this is a windows thing... each folder gives you the option of how to display the files in it... whether by details or by small icons or large icons. This option is accessed from the dropdown menu at the top of windows explorer > View

If you pick LARGE ICONS as the display option, your thumbnails will be back. Somehow that setting must have gooten changed for that folder, but its pretty easy to change it back

i have bought a new laptop with win 10.the values are the same for the locations i posted earlier but
at this place in the registry instead of the string shown the win10 laptop has (value not set).so 'spose i could change it to that.

Hi Drewi

I was able to get thumbnails and preview working in file explorer on Windows 10 but not sure what I did won't break Muvizu somewhere else....or during future upgrades....but hopefully not....

You were along the right tracks not sure why the association didn't work when you added it under Muvizu Set File.....but it worked for me when I did this:

In the registry there is an entry registering the ThumbnailExplorer7.DLL for preview of a .pset but not for .set type. (not sure if this was someone doing something fancy via the .set association) I just copied the shellex keys under .set in two parts of the registry:

Created these two keys for .set:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.set\shellex\{e357fccd-a995-4576-b01f-234630154e96} and set DefaultValue to {D9E42E32-AB1E-4EE5-97DD-2A769888AB85}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\.set\shellex\{e357fccd-a995-4576-b01f-234630154e96} and set DefaultValue to {D9E42E32-AB1E-4EE5-97DD-2A769888AB85}

I rebooted and had to resave my Muvizu sets but then they had thumbnails and the large thumbnail also appeared in the preview window if you have it open.

Cheers

JG
