If it provides an incentive to do so, I'll go ahead and say up front that I'd pay whatever they asked in order to buy a true quadrapeds character pack! ESPECIALLY if it allowed attachments so we could make our own custom quadraped characters

Heck, it doesn't even have to be a SET.... if there are attachment points that allow mods, I'd pay whatever they ask for ONE truly modifiable critter!

If they don't do something fast, though... a lot of us are going to get in the habit of using other software to fill that void... and after we share the knowledge of how we did it, the potential selling price of a quadraped pack won't be as high. Just sayin'.

I am not using the pivot point of the legs. I am using a pivot point on the hands.

I know, I mean the pivot point of the fake legs, wich are connected to the hands. It is nice work arround though, not that I am saying it isn't.

Because it'll be a method that involves changing some core files to access the building blocks of an upcoming feature. (Which I assume is against the EULA)

I see. I'm amazed there are any upcoming features !
One new feature I'd like would be to make the Heads invisible, leaving attachments visible.

It states in the licence under 2.2.3

You shall use the Software only for the purpose of making animations (including video or still footage) (“Animations”) and, without limiting the foregoing generality, you shall not:
2.2.1 make or derive any product from the Software other than Animations;
2.2.2 remove any copyright notice from the Software;
2.2.3 work around any technical limitations in the Software or decompile, modify, reverse engineer, publicly display, prepare derivative works based on the Software, disassemble or otherwise reproduce it;
2.2.4 rent-out, sell, mortgage, charge, assign lease, barter, sub-license, distribute, publish or transmit the Software, or provide means for any other party to do so or otherwise deal in any way with all or any part of the Software or attempt to or purport to do any such acts.

hmmmm... wording like what is shown in section 2.2.3 is normally intended to keep people from pirating the intellectual property for independent use that doesn't include them. But in your case you'd still be using it to create animations... which you are licensed to do. If editing the XML voids the license, then everyone who has ever made the edit that enables alpha channel in video is in violation already.

But, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the reason for all this is because they're working on their own quadrapeds.
Hey, we can hope.

Speaking of which... I spent much of the weekend playing with Eugene's ideas here. I tried attaching thicker legs to the characters feet, but the vector follows the foot angle, not the leg... so when he bends his leg the top of the fake leg shoots outside the body.

Does anybody know if any of the actions involve walking with stiff (unbent or minimally bent legs? If so, I think I could make something work.

Have you tried the horror actions? Might be something 'undead' in there. Other than that I was thinking of the robot, but he walks (and breathes!) like everyone else.

I've been trying (not with a lot of success) using the beefy character.
He has three places on each arm to attach things, and there is a little bendiness there!
So maybe a three part leg ?
Of course his real legs have no attachments, but some of the boots could be coloured ?

I've been busy with a music project, so I haven't tried anything yet... the idea of unbent legs jsut occurred to and I thought it was worth asking before spending a lot of time... y'all seem to have the options memorized!

Good idea on the horror actions.. I bet there's a way to makes zombies and mummies walk that way... thanks for the idea!
