Hi there!

I am wondering how I can shorten or extend some actions - conversation - that it fits together with the spoken audio?
it is either to short or too long

Also my superhero doesnt goes to IDLE after his conversational actions but freezes in his last pose.

Help?!

Adriana,

What I tend to do when recording character actions is to click the action and then immediately click "idle". That way you end up with a very short action which gets cut short by the idle. I then move (or often delete) the idle to make the animation play out it's full course or cut it short where I want it to end.

You can adapt some animations to look like other things this way.

Some animations need an idle after them to return to the start position - the pose and conversation actions are among them.

Hope this helps.

Yes, as ukBerty says the conversational animations for the hero and villain characters are considered to be "Poses" this means the character freezes and holds the pose at the end of the animation. The work around ukBerty has suggested does work very well.

At present, there isn't anyway to make the animations shorter or longer to fit with spoken audio. You can adapt the method ukBerty has suggested to use with the idle animations and poses to interrupt one animation with another animation, this lets you play half of one animation, then a quarter of another animation and then to return to the idle animation afterwards.

The downside is that you are only able to have the beginning of any animation using this method, as you can't cut off the start of the animation and keep the end.

Good luck!

I've used the "mix and match" method of creating character actions for awhile now with pretty good results. With a little experimenting you'd be surprised at how many "new" actions that are available.

Hi all,

I need some advice.

With conversational actions, when I press 'idle', the character goes immediately to the idle position. Sometimes this is a very jerky 'arms at side' movement. Is there a method to use to soften the 'idle' movement. I know that if I time it perfectly, sometimes I can go to idle on a conversation down movement
which does soften the movement.

This is your answer right here -

Timing is the only way you can do it, other than slowing down/playing around with the footage in the editing stage. I know this from many long and trying hours going over and over the idle cutoff position to find the one place where it works well, so that is doesn't look jerky, as you say. This subject comes up again and again, in various threads, but there's just no way (yet) to alter the character animations pre-set path and speed. Still, at least you know where to address your pleadings...

My experience has been to keep adjusting things on the timeline until you get the look you're after. Sometimes moving things a "split second" either way can make all the difference.

HI,

Thanks, I figured as much, but it is reassuring to hear from other Muvizu users. I am still a novice, so I may ask questions that have already been discussed somewhere else. Please have patience. I love the product, and the forum is outstanding.
