If you are in full time education or know someone who is you can download 3Dmax or Maya or any other Autodesk tools for free simply by joining the education community. There are "watermarks" allegedly but i think these only appear on rendered output

It's probably cheaper to go to Uni for 3 years than buy Maya or Max too

Thank for these links !
And thanks for your reply in the other thread !

The blender plugin works:

but the Sketchup-plug (belgabor) converted files crashed Muvizu even with very simple objects.
So, I better wait for your instructions !

There is another little program that is able to export ASE-files. Its called "Biturn" - Link here.
It works really nice in showing or converting different files, but unfortunately the converted ASE-files also crash my Muvizu. But maybe one of your experts may find it useful ?

Hi abolina,

if you follow the above link you find different ASE exporters.
I installed more than one in the latest Blender version and one of them worked but only with some of the models.

Any luck getting this to work with 3DS Max 2011 with ID textures?

Can't figure out how to do it.

Thanks

I would suggest to all you 3D importers out there to visit Daz3d.com and download Daz 4 (human/object poser) and Bryce 7 (landscape generator) as they are both free at the moment. You'll have to export the stuff you generate, then convert it, etc, but the point is that these are two very good bits of kit and they're FREE! Big downloads though, so if you're still on dial-up speed then look elsewhere

A word of caution with the Daz stuff...especially the freebies...there are loads of them, good quality but read the README texts as there are some quite weird inclusions within these on occasion. But a further source of good free models for Daz is of course Renderosity and www.Runtimedna.com.
