I wanted to create a `space' scene, but I'm only given a sky and and ground option and cannot chose one to cover the whole set. And when I do add a sky texture, it always comes from the back outwards, with stars laying flat. Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

You can use a backdrop panel like a green screen and adjust your camera angles accordingly. Then put your background picture on the backdrop.

Thank you for such a quick response. I guess I'll have to do some experimenting

yes. A backdrop scaled up (possible the curved one!) and your objects and characters scaled down to maximise the backdrop's effect.

That's how I see it anyhoo!

Possibly.. Never really thought of hero movies as sci-fi for some reason although technically I suppose they are.
I was thinking more along the star trek/star wars aliens etc line!

I was joking although not very well.

Have a go and see what happens. No cardboard robots though please.

I gotta say, so far I've had some really good tips from you guys. I'm new to Muvizu, and I'd recommend it to anyone, including no shortage of support from a very helpful forum. I love watching the work others have done here too. Some really good and entertaining stuff. I graduated as a film maker, but haven't done animation before, so seeing the great work of others is a real inspiration. Thanx guys. Keep the fantastic helpful advice coming.

Rocky, I noticed that you said the sky was distorted so here are the dimensions I use when creating graphics, you can get quite a good night sky if you make your image 4:1 ....

Custom Texture: 2048 x 2048 or 1024 x 1024
Decals: 512 x 512
Skydome: 2048 x 512 ..... 4:1

Backdrops Aspect Ratios:

Widescreen = 16:9 1280 x 720
Superwide = 20:9 1600 x 720
Curved = 2:1 1440 x 720
4:3 1920 x 1440

Hope this helps.

Thank you WozToons. Much appreciated. I'll certainly give that a try. I'll check out your work, as I'm sure that would be a great help too.

Not too sure about that.

Happy to help, reading the forums and watching all the tutorials is a good way to start and there's nearly always someone on here who knows the answer.

Has anybody already checked a sphere or a ball as background space model ? hmm

Here's a short example:
1.Outside

2.Inside:

I simply tested a sphere that was imported using Ziggys sketchup mesh (unfortunately, only the smallest of 3 different sizes worked). Maybe somebody can make it bigger, because it's rather difficult to work or orient oneself inside.
To get an idea you can download the set: here
or maybe I could upload it to the gallery ?

That actually works quite well, although you have to scale the fighter down to reduce the 'warp' effect of the sphere through the camera. I think that's about as big a dome as you'll be able to import into Muvizu. Maybe two half domes, with a gap inbetween,so you can still see the stars on the skyglobe? That might give you 360 degree coverage while hiding the floor and the texture 'pinch' at the top of the skyglobe...

yes this is what I would probably do make a cube or something and texture the inside of it and plop it into the muvizu dome to make it all look okay

since the textures don't distort so much its also probably the least fussy method me thinks

and me you know being a lazy person at heart would pick the easiest way
